Your local Lib Dem team have succeeded in securing funding for the rebuilding of Sparkhill baths.
Cllr Jerry Evans, Liberal Democrat spokesperson for Birmingham Hall Green said “I am thrilled that the hard work and dedication shown by my Lib Dem colleagues has resulted in this fantastic achievement.”
He continued “It shows the determination of this Lib Dem partnership Council to prioritise community pools. Under Labour community pools were closed at Stirchley, Monument Road , Nechells and Saltley. In contrast no community baths have closed under the Lib Dems and Ł1 million has already been found to keep Moseley Road Baths open.”
“I would like to thank everyone who has joined in the campaign to save the Baths and signed our petition, which I presented to Council three months ago.”
The rebuilding is likely to take around two years to complete. Meanwhile, we are working to provide a temporary re-provision of the gym, sauna and steam room in premises at the back of the Social and Cultural Centre next to the baths. We should be able to do this in a few months.
