Action on drugs – Kitkit saved!

We all know what a problem drugs are in our area. So its sad to see that yet again Salma and the ‘Respect’ Councillors in Hall Green constituency failed to support the Kikit Drug advice and treatment centre.

The Kikit centre is based in Sparkbrook ward but serves Springfield as well. It helps get users off drugs and into jobs.

Jerry and Tanveer helped the centre to survive with a grant from our ward Community Chest when it was in trouble earlier this year, and Jerry worked hard to secure Drugs Action Team Grant funding to put the centre on a longer term stable financial footing.

Mohammed Fiaz said “It is sad that the Sparkbrook councillors fail to really recognise the importance of drugs advice and treatment in our area. They may speak the words, but fail to back them with either money or action. The good news is that Jerry has had, working to get drug users into jobs, into the Working Neigbourhoods Program for our area, so Kikit should get further support for its work through this”.
